Vault & Library

Building Your Library

Your Library is where a character, item or shop goes when you want to keep it beyond the game it was made in. It holds your own copies, private by default, on the same four tabs the Vault uses.

The Library is part of Base.

Quick Notes

  • Copying runs in the background, so it is not instant.
  • Everything arrives as a draft. Nothing is public until you publish it.
  • Adding the same thing to a game twice genuinely makes two of it.

Send a character to your Library

Send a character to your Library

From a game's Characters table, Send to Library on a character's actions menu takes a copy. Selecting several first and using To Library in the selection bar sends them together.

The confirmation says it plainly: copies are saved as drafts, and nothing is visible to anyone else until you publish it.

Let the copy finish

Let the copy finish

Copying reads each character as it goes, so the app asks you to leave them alone until the copies show up. Editing or deleting something mid-copy can fail the run or leave that one out.

You will see progress while it works. Large batches take a moment.

Items and shops work the same way

Items and shops work the same way

The Items and Shops tables carry the same Send to Library action, singly or over a selection.

Spells are sent from a character's Spells page rather than from a game table, since spells belong to a character rather than to the game.

Add something into a game

Add something into a game

The same three tables have Library in their toolbar, which opens a picker over everything you own and, for spells, everything you have liked.

Pick a single thing or a whole group. Picking a group brings every member across in one go, and the picker tells you how many that is.

Bring tags across

Bring tags across

The Bring tags across switch decides whether the copy carries its tags into the destination game, creating any tag that game does not already have.

Two things worth knowing: a large collection can carry more tags than a game has room for, which will stop the copy; and shop tags are never carried across, so the switch is not offered for shops.

Adding twice makes two

Adding twice makes two

There is no link back to the Library once something is added. The copy is independent, and editing it never touches the original.

That also means adding the same thing again later makes another copy. Usually what you want for a recurring NPC, rarely what you want by accident.
